Actors' Shakespeare Project will present Christopher Marlowe's Edward II from February 22-March 19 at the Charlestown Working Theater. David R. Gammons will direct ASP's Resident Acting Company in the production.

The play follows an English king who forsakes everything for his public and private passions, only to meet horrific ends at the hands of his queen and his conniving noblemen. In the wake of Edward I’s death, his son has taken the throne as Edward II. His radical ideas around affairs of state, lack of military acumen, and loyalty to his ambitious lover Piers Gaveston pit him against powerful nobles and his calculating Queen Isabella.

The cast features both members of the Resident Acting Company and guest artists. Resident Company Members include Maurice Emmanuel Parent (Edward II) and Jennie Israel (Isabella). Guest artists are Eddie Shields (Gaveston), Nigel Gore (Lancaster), Nile Hawver (Kent), Alex Pollock (Mortimer), Stewart Evan Smith (Spencer), and Boston University student David J. Castillo (Prince Edward III).

The production team includes Sara Brown (set), Jeff Adelberg (lights), Rachel Pudula-Shufelt (costumes), Dave Wilson (sound), and Arkansas Light (stage manager).
