André De Shields

André De Shields is an actor, activist, educator and philanthropist. His work in theatre includes Cats: The Jellicle Ball at Perelman Performing Arts Center, New York; and Hadestown (Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics’ Circle Award and Grammy Award); title role in The Wiz, Ain’t Misbehavin’ (Emmy Award), Play On! (Tony nomination) and The Full Monty (Tony nomination) on Broadway. Other projects include Greenwich Village Halloween Parade. André De Shields received an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he has founded The André De Shields Fund.
