Original star Chad Allen will join Valerie Harper in Matthew Lombardo’s Looped, to run December 31-February 15 at the Cuillo Centre for the Arts in West Palm Beach, Florida, followed by a run at Washington D.C.’s Arena Stage, May 29-June 28.

Allen, who starred with the Harper in the show’s prior mounting at the Pasadena Playhouse, replaces Jarrod Emick, who was scheduled to join the production, which will be directed by Rob Ruggiero.

The play is loosely based on the true story of Tallullah Bankhead’s eight-hour looping session during the movie Die, Die, My Darling. Lombardo is best known as the author of Tea at Five.

The creative team includes Adrian W. Jones (sets), Alex Jaeger (costumes), Michael Gillian (lighting), and Michael Hooker (sound). Ruggiero’s directing credits include Ella, Make Me A Song and The Little Dog Laughed.

Harper’s stage credits include Golda’s Balcony, The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife, and Death Defying Acts; she is best known for her Emmy Award-winning work as Rhoda Morgenstern on TV’s Mary Tyler Moore Show and Rhoda. Allen’s stage work includes The Little Dog Laughed and he is best known for his television work, including Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.
