René Augesen and Michael Hayden will star in American Conservatory Theater's revival of John Ford's 'Tis Pity She's a Whore. Carey Perloff will direct the production, which will run June 5-July 6.

Considered one of the most controversial works in the English language, the play explores a deadly erotic obsession between siblings Giovanni and Annabella.

The cast will also include James Carpenter (Richardetto), Michael Earle Fajardo (Soranzo), Anthony Fusco (Vasques), Susan Gibney (Hippolita), Steven Anthony Jones (Bonaventura), Warren David Keith (Donato), Sharon Lockwood (Putana), Robert Sicular (Florio), Stephen Barker Turner (Poggio), Kelsey Venter (Philotis), Gregory Wallace (Bergetto), Jud Williford (Grimaldi), and Jack Willis (Cardinal). The ensemble will also include Rod Gnapp, Kevin Rolston, and Amanda Sykes.

Hayden, who will play Giovanni, received a Tony Award nomination for Judgment at Nuremberg, and additional Broadway credits include Festen, Carousel and Henry IV, and Enchanted April. Augesen, who will portray Annabella, is the winner of a 2007 Bay Area Theatre Critics' Circle Award. She recently appeared in A.C.T.'s The Rainmaker and Brainpeople.

The creative team will include Walt Spangler (sets), Candice Donnelly (costumes), Robert Wierzel (lights), Jake Rodriguez (sound). Original music will be composed and performed by Bonfire Madigan Shive.
