Chad Allen, Sharon Gless, and More to Be Honored at Philadelphia QFest

Chad Allen and Sharon Gless are among the honorees who will accept their awards at one of four special ceremonies during the 15th Anniversary of Philadelphia QFest, to be held July 9-20. Awardees at the film festival will also include H.P. Mendoza and Dr. Dee Mosbacher.

Allen, who will receive the 2009 Artistic Achievement Award on July 9, is best known for his starring role on Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman and his other TV credits include a series of mysteries in which he plays gay detective Donald Strachey, including Third Man Out and On The Other Hand, Death. His stage credits include Looped, The Little Dog Laughed, and Sea Change.

Gless, who will receive the 2009 Gay Icon Award on July 19, is best known for her television work, which includes Cagney & Lacey, The Trials of Rosie O'Neill, House Calls, Switch, Queer as Folk, Nip/Tuck, and her current series, Burn Notice. She stars in the film adaptation of Claudia Allen's play Hannah Free which debuts this summer, and her stage credits include Allen's Cahoots, along with Watch on the Rhine, Misery, and Chapter Two.
