Casting has been announced for Stars of David, a new musical song cycle based on Abigail Pogrebin's acclaimed non-fiction book of the same title, which will receive its world premiere at Philadelphia Theatre Company, October 17-November 18.

Gordon Greenberg directs the production, which is conceived by Aaron Harnick and features a book by Charles Busch.

The piece will transform interviews Pogrebin conducted with prominent American Jews, including Aaron Sorkin, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Joan Rivers, and Tony Kushner, into songs composed by William Finn, Tom Kitt, Duncan Sheik, Sheldon Harnick, Jeanine Tesori, Michael Friedman, Marilyn & Alan Bergman, Amanda Green, Nathan Tysen & Chris Miller, Susan Birkenhead, and Marvin Hamlisch.

The ensemble cast features Nancy Balbirer, Alex Brightman, Joanna Glushak, Brad Oscar, and Donna Vivino.

The production will feature scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Alejo Vietti, lighting design by Howell Binkley, and sound design by Robert Kaplowitz.
