Abingdon Theatre Company Announces 2017-18 25th Anniversary Season

Abingdon Theatre Company has announced the initial lineup of its 25th anniversary 2017-18 season.
Two main stage productions are scheduled. The first is the world premiere of a new play by Dave Solomon, Margaret and Craig, running at The Gym at Judson February to March in 2018. It is described as follows: "When author Margaret Gibson is asked to write a piece about the passing of her friend Craig Russell, the famous female impersonator, she's forced to relive their tempestuous past; reawakening the music, memories and secrets of their fractured relationship." Directed by Tony nominee Sheryl Kaller (Mothers and Sons), the production will star Mario Cantone as Russell. Further casting and creative team will be announced later.
Abingdon's second main stage production is the New York premiere of The Fruit Trilogy by Eve Ensler. It is described as "a triptych of short plays giving a voice to defiant, ordinary women." Directed by Mark Rosenblatt, The Fruit Trilogy will run at the Lucille Lortel Theatre in June 2018. Casting and creative team will be announced later.
The company's 25th anniversary gala on October 23, honoring Bebe Neuwirth and featuring a concert performance of Kander & Ebb's And the World Goes 'Round, has been previously announced.
Abingdon will also host a handful of readings as part of its Ghostlight Reading Series. This year's lineup includes Tony Meneses's Between Here and the City of Mexico on November 6 at Vineyard Theatre, Dominique Fishback's Subverted on December 4 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, and Philip Dawkins's The Gentleman Caller on December 11 at the DR2 Theatre. The company will also host a new musical-in-development, In the Mines by Kate Hamill, with music by Carmel Dean, as part of its second annual Musical Theatre Lab.
