On Monday night, Pulitzer Prize winner Terrence McNally’s new play Some Men opened at Second Stage. After the show, the playwright caught up with TV favorite and frequent theatergoer Doris Roberts.

Among the production’s nine-member cast, all of whom play multiple roles, are Kelly AuCoin, Pedro Pascal, David Greenspan, and Don Amendolia…

…Frederick Weller, who starred on Broadway in Take Me Out, Seascape, and Glengarry Glen Ross…

…Romain Frugé who gets to show off his singing voice in Some Men, just as he did in The Full Monty (book by McNally, songs by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens)…

…and another amazing singer-actor, Michael McElroy (left), pictured here with pal Flotilla DeBarge.

Also celebrating after the show were director Trip Cullman and pal Alison Pill, who’s currently starring Off-Broadway in Manhattan Theatre Club’s Blackbird.

The opening brought out a slew of celebs, including Edie Falco, who starred in the Broadway revival of McNally’s Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune…

…Nathan Lane, who has appeared in such McNally plays as Love! Valour! Compassion and The Lisbon Traviata…

…the fabulous Donna Murphy, set to return to Broadway next month as Lotte Lenya in LoveMusik…

…and the talented Keith Nobbs, now co-starring on the new NBC drama The Black Donnellys.

Last week, another new play by one of New York’s favorite writers opened at Manhattan Theatre Club: Charles Busch’s Our Leading Lady. Here’s the author with the show’s director, Lynne Meadow.

The show marks the return of Star Trek: Voyager‘s Kate Mulgrew, last seen on stage in Tea at Five. She is simply magnificent as actress Laura Keene, who was onstage at Ford’s Theater the night that Abraham Lincoln was killed by John Wilkes Booth.

Mulgrew’s co-stars include Tony Award winner Ann Duquesnay and handsome newcomer Billy Wheelan…
