Gideon Lester to Succeed JoAnne Akalaitis as Bard College Director of Theater Programs

Gideon Lester will succeed JoAnne Akalaitis as the Director of Theater Programs at Bard College. Akalaitis is retiring as head of the theater department after 14 years.

As part of his duties, he will head the undergraduate theater program at Bard, where he will teach full time, and also curate the professional Fisher Center and SummerScape theater and dance offerings.

Lester is a former associate artistic director of the American Repertory Theater, and a current co-curator of the Crossing the Line arts festival in New York.
