Women’s Project Sells Julia Miles Theatre, Will Make Cherry Lane Its New Home

November 16, 2011

Women’s Project has sold its former home, The Julia Miles Theatre on West 55th Street, and will begin producing at the Cherry Lane Theatre with its 2012-2013 season.

The Julia Miles Theatre has been unusable since the facility’s heating and air-conditioning system ceased to function in 2010. Since that time, the venue has further deteriorated due to water damage that has undermined a support wall and ceiling.

In related news, The Women’s Project has announced casting for its next production, Catherine Trieschmann’s How The World Began directed by Daniella Topol, to play The Peter Jay Sharp Theater, December 28-January 29, with an opening set for January 5. Heidi Schreck, Adam LeFevre and Justin Kruger will star.

The company’s current production of Kirsten Greenidge’s Milk Like Sugar, a co-production at Playwrights Horizons, has been extended through November 27.

The company’s first production in the Cherry Lane Theatre will be the world premiere of We Play For The Gods, conceived and created by the sixteen artists of the Women’s Project Lab for playwrights, directors, and producers (June 1-23, 2012).
