Tony Award nominee Kerry Butler will star in a reading of the new musical, Through the Door, by Judy Freed (book) and Laurence Mark Wythe (music & lyrics), to be presented at The Roy Arias Theatre on Monday, December 19, at 7pm. David Lee will direct, with musical direction by Stuart McMeans.

In the piece, Charlotte and Lenny love each other. But lately it seems like their lives have been on different paths. He’s working like crazy, while she’s at home looking for a job and feeling like a failure. Then one day a mysterious portal opens in the kitchen pantry, bringing Charlotte face-to-face with Jean-Pierre, 17th-century French prince who thinks she’s pretty hot.

The reading is being presented as part of the 2011 TRU Voices New Musicals Reading Series, which will also include Oklahomo by Jesse Gage (December 5 at 7pm) and Famous by Yvonne Adrian, Cheryl Stern and Tom Kochan (December 12 at 7pm).
