Pockriss’ theater credits include the score for the Broadway musical Tovarich, as well as the Off-Broadway shows, Ernest in Love, a musical adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest, Conrack, and Bodo. He also collaborated with Carolyn Leigh and Hugh Wheeler on an unproduced musical adaptation of The Great Gatsby, which was presented in concert form at the New York Musical Theater Festival last month.
Pockriss’ was also responsible for many pop hits including “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini” “Catch a Falling Star,” both featuring lyrics by Paul Vance, and “Johnny Angel,” which has lyrics Lynn Duddy)
He is survived by his wife and a brother.
