Cheyenne Jackson, Karen Ziemba, et al. to Honor Barbara Cook at Hammerstein Gala

An updated list of performers has been announced for the York Theatre Company’s 2011 Oscar Hammerstein Gala, to be held at the Edison Ballroom tonight, Monday, November 21.

As previously reported, multiple Grammy nominee Michael Feinstein will host the event, which will honor Tony and Grammy Award winner Barbara Cook, who will receive the 20th Oscar Hammerstein Award for Lifetime Achievement in Musical Theatre. The evening will directed by Philip Wm. McKinley with music direction by Patrick Vaccariello. Jeff Hochhauser will be writing continuity for the evening.

Performers will now include Sheldon Harnick, Marilyn Horne, Cheyenne Jackson, Norm Lewis, Marin Mazzie, Howard McGillin, Euan Morton, Marni Nixon, Emily Skinner, and Karen Ziemba.

Cook most recently appeared on Broadway in Sondheim on Sondheim, for which she received a 2010 Tony Award nomination. She won a Tony for originating the role of Marian Paroo in The Music Man, and her many additional Broadway shows include Plain and Fancy, Flahooley, She Loves Me, and Candide. In addition, she and Feinstein released a duet album, Cheek To Cheek, recorded live at Feinstein’s at Loews Regency, and she is currently performing her newest show, You Make Me Feel So Young at the venue.
