The Metropolitan Opera and The Juilliard School will co-produce Bedrich Smetana’s The Bartered Bride at Juilliard’s Peter Jay Sharp Theater on February 15, 17, and 20. Stephen Wadsworth will direct the production, which will feature James Levine conducting the Juilliard Orchestra.

The production features a new English-language translation by J.D. McClatchy that has been commissioned by the Met, and which will be used for a later full-scale production.

The production will include choreography by Benjamin Millepied, scenery by Thomas Lynch, costumes by Martin Pakledinaz, and lighting by Peter Kaczorowski.

The cast will feature current members and graduates of both the Met’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program and the Ellen and James S. Marcus Institute for Vocal Arts at Juilliard, along with students from Juilliard Dance. Casting details will be announced at a later date.
