Caissie Levy won her first Tony Award, in the category of Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical, for her performance as Mother in Ragtime. It was her first Tony nomination.
Levy also won a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Lead Performance in a Musical for the performance. TheaterMania’s Zachary Stewart wrote in his review, “Caissie Levy, steadily, furtively draws us into her understated performance as Mother.”
Levy made her Broadway debut as a replacement in Hairspray in 2006. She originated roles in Ghost the Musical and Frozen on Broadway and has starred in revivals of Hair and Caroline, or Change.
