PHOTO FLASH: Gavin Creel, Beth Leavel, Daphne Rubin-Vega, et al. at NYCLU’s Broadway Stands Up For Freedom Concert

On Monday, July 25, the New York Civil Liberties Union’s held their Broadway Stands Up For Freedom concert at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. Daniel Goldstein directed the performance, which was hosted by musical director Seth Rudetsky.

Performers at the event were scheduled to include Erica Ash, De’Adre Aziza, Erich Bergen, Clinton Curtis, Gavin Creel, Nikki M. James, Moises Kaufman, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Beth Leavel, Nellie McKay, Lindsay Mendez, Steven Pasquale, Andrew Rannells, Krysta Rodriguez, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Christina Sajous, Liana Stampur, and John Tartaglia.

Proceeds from the event benefitted the New York Civil Liberties Union’s youth programs, including its work with LGBT teenagers; its Teen Health Initiative, which educates teenagers on their rights to access health care in New York City; and its work to stop overly aggressive policing and military recruiting in the city’s public schools.
