HBO to Show Carousel, Goodbye Girl, 12 Angry Men, et al. in Bryant Park

HBO has announced the selections for its annual series of summer films, to be shown on the lawn each Monday. Seating begins at 5pm and the film begins around sundown.

Highlights of the series are the movie musical Carousel, starring Shirley Jones (June 28); Monty Python and the Holy Grail (July 26) — which later inspired the musical Spamalot; the Oscar-winning comedy The Goodbye Girl starring Richard Dreyfuss and Marsha Mason (August 9), which later became a Broadway musical; and Reginald Rose’s courtdroom drama, 12 Angry Men starring Henry Fonda (August 16).

Other selections in Goldfinger (June 21); The French Connection (July 5); My Man Godfrey (July 12); The China Syndrome (July 19); Rosemary’s Baby (August 2), and Bonnie & Clyde (August 23).

In related news, the annual Broadway in Bryant Park series, featuring music from Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, will run Thursdays, July 8-August 12. No performers have been announced.
