American Idiot, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, Fences Among ITBA Award Nominees

The nominations for the 2nd Annual Independent Theater Bloggers Association (ITBA) Awards have been announced. The winners of these awards, as well as winners of the organization’s citations for excellence by individual performers, will be announced on May 20.

Competing for the Outstanding New Broadway Musical award are American Idiot, Everyday Rapture and Fela!. The Broadway plays which have been nominated for ITBA Awards are In the Next Room (or the vibrator Play), Next Fall, Red, Superior Donuts, and Time Stands Still.

In revival categories, Finian’s Rainbow, La Cage Aux Folles, A Little Night Music, and Ragtime have received nominations as well as the plays Brighton Beach Memoirs, Fences, Lend Me A Tenor, Oleanna, and A View From The Bridge.

Off-Broadway shows that have received nominations include Circle Mirror Transformation, Clybourne Park, The Orphans’ Home Cycle and The Temperamentals in the play category; while Bloodsong of Love, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, The Scottsboro Boys, and Yank were named as Outstanding Off-Broadway musical.

Along with nominations in revival and Off-Off-Broadway categories, the group announced that A Boy and His Soul and Zero Hour have been nominated as outstanding solo shows. Taylor Mac’s The Lily’s Revenge has been recognized with a Outstanding Unique Off-Off Broadway Experience, while Brooklyn’s Company XIV has received a Citation for Excellence in Off-Off Broadway Theatre.
