Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown CD to Be Released May 10

The original cast album of the Broadway musical Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown will be released by Ghostlight Records on May 10.

Based on the film by Pedro Almodovar, the musical features a book by Jeffrey Lane, with music and lyrics by David Yazbek. The show is set in late 20th-century Madrid and tells the story of the intertwining lives of a group of women whose relationships with men lead to a tumultuous 48 hours of love, confusion, and passion.

Presented earlier this season by Lincoln Center Theater, the musical was directed by Bartlett Sher and starred de’Adre Aziza, Laura Benanti, Danny Burstein, Justin Guarini, Nikka Graff Lanzarone, Patti LuPone, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Mary Beth Peil and Sherie Rene Scott.

The CD will be produced by David Yazbek and Dean Sharenow with Kurt Deutsch serving as Executive Producer. It will feature 18 tracks, including a full version of “My Crazy Heart,” along with a 40-page color booklet, with an essay by Almodovar and liner notes by Frank Rich.
