Alan Alda and Candice Bergen Extend Their Broadway Run in Love Letters

The Emmy winners join the rotating ensemble cast in A.R. Gurney’s two-character drama.

Alan Alda and Candice Bergen have extended their run in the new Broadway revival of A.R. Gurney’s Love Letters at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. The Emmy winners, who began performances on November 8, will play 13 extra shows and finish out their run on December 18.

Directed by Gregory Mosher, the two-character drama began performances September 13 and opened on September 18 with Mia Farrow and Brian Dennehy starring. The production team includes John Lee Beatty (scenic design), Jane Greenwood (costume design), and Peter Kaczorowski (lighting design). The production's rotating cast has also included Carol Burnett.

Stacy Keach and Diana Rigg (December 19-January 9)

Anjelica Huston and Martin Sheen (January 10-February 15)

Love Letters, which was named a finalist for the 1990 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, follows the lifelong friendship of artist Melissa and politician Andrew over the course of 50 years through the letters they exchange.
