Jack Noseworthy Exits Lestat

Jack Noseworthy has left the role of Armand in the Broadway-bound production of Lestat, which is playing through January 29 at the Curran Theater in San Francisco. The part will be played by his understudy, Drew Sarich, until a permanent replacement is named. Lestat is scheduled to begin previews at Broadway’s Palace Theatre on March 11, with an official opening slated for April 13.

The show is directed by Robert Jess Roth (Beauty and the Beast), with musical staging by Matt West. The cast is headed by Hugh Panaro in the title role, Carolee Carmello as Gabrielle, Jim Stanek as Louis, Roderick Hill as Nicolas, Michael Genet as Marius, and Allison Fischer as Claudia. Inspired by Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles, Lestat features the first theatrical score from the legendary songwriting team of Elton John and Bernie Taupin, and a book by Linda Woolverton.

According to statements released by Roth and Noseworthy, the creative team has decided to take the character of Armand in a different direction. Roth said he has enjoyed working with the actor, and Noseworthy said that the decision was the correct choice for the production. The actor was last seen on Broadway as Dallas in Sweet Smell of Success.
