John Bolton, Sara Gettelfinger, Charity Angél Dawson, and More Join Richard Kind in Hairspray

The principal cast has been announced for the Muny production of Hairspray, which opens the theater’s 108th season in Forest Park and runs June 15-21. As previously announced, Richard Kind will star as Edna Turnblad.

Joining Kind are Katy Geraghty as Tracy Turnblad, John Bolton as Wilbur Turnblad, Sara Gettelfinger as Velma Von Tussle, Charity Angél Dawson as Motormouth Maybelle, Paul Schwensen as Corny Collins, Madison Thompson as Amber Von Tussle, Ben Jackson Walker as Link Larkin, Ashlynn Maddox as Penny Pingleton, Nicholas A. Wilkinson as Seaweed J. Stubbs, Hannah Solow as Female Authority Figure, Kevin Zak as Male Authority Figure, and Joy Elizabeth Rhodes as Little Inez. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

Based on John Waters’ cult classic 1988 film and winner of eight Tony Awards, Hairspray features a book by Mark O’Donnell and Thomas Meehan, music by Marc Shaiman, and lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman. Seth Sklar-Heyn directs the production, with choreography by Jesse Robb and music direction/conducting by Evan Roider.

The design team for includes scenic designer Christine Peters, costume designer Tristan Raines, lighting designer Rob Denton, sound designer Joshua Hummel, video designer Nathan Scheuer, and wig designer Ashley Rae Callahan.
