Green, Murney, Block, et al. Slated for Concerts at Birdland

Following performances by Christine Ebersole & Billy Stritch, Alice Ripley, Jeff Marx & Bobby Lopez, Karen Mason, and the upcoming Georgia Stitt concert (December 27), “The Winter Season” at Birdland will continue into 2005. Jim Caruso in association with TheaterMania.com presents “Hot Stars For Cold Nights,” featuring top Broadway and jazz performers and songwriters in concert on Mondays. Here is the full schedule of performances:

MONDAY, JANUARY 24 and 31:
Amanda Green, Tom Kitt, and Friends: The composers/lyricists have assembled an all-star cast to perform trunk songs from past shows and new songs from the upcoming Broadway production of their musical High Fidelity. 7pm. $20 cover, $10 food/drink minimum.

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 7:
Julia Murney: The Drama Desk-nominated singer appears with musical director Tom Kitt. 7pm. $20 cover, $10 food/drink minimum.

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 14:
Stephanie J. Block: This Valentine’s Day show will feature Block — who played Liza Minnelli in the Broadway production of The Boy From Oz — performing songs from Wicked, a swinging duet with musical director/performer Billy Stritch, and a tribute to Peter Allen. 7pm. $30 cover, $10 food/drink minimum.

Christine Ebersole & Billy Stritch return to celebrate the release of their new CD In Your Dreams on the Ghostlight label. Songs from the recording include “Fine and Dandy,” “Surrey With The Fringe On Top,” and “There’s A Boat That’s Leavin’ Soon For New York.” 9pm. $30 cover, $10 food/drink minimum.

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 21:
Peter Eldridge: The acclaimed jazz singer will perform selections from his two solo albums, Fool No More and Stranger in Town. One of his star pupils, Jane Monheit, recently featured him on her DVD, Live at the Rainbow Room; the two duetted on an original song penned by Eldridge. 7pm. $18 cover, $10 food/drink minimum.
