Tony Award winner Hugh Jackman will star in the science fiction film Real Steel, according to a report in Variety. Shawn Levy will direct the movie which is based on a short story by Richard Matheson.

The movie centers on a fighter who has to reinvent himself when human boxers are replaced by robots. Jackman will play a struggling robot boxing promoter who finds a discarded robot that always seems to win.

Jackman won a Tony Award for his performance in The Boy From Oz. He's currently starring with Daniel Craig, in A Steady Rain at the Schoenfeld Theatre. Among his many film credits are Australia, The Prestige, and The Fountain.
