Tony Award winner Roger Rees will assume the role of Gomez in The Addams Family, playing at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, on March 22. He will be replacing Nathan Lane who will play his final performance in the role on March 6.

Rees received a Tony, as well as an Olivier Award, for his performance in the title role in The Life And Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby. In addition, he received a Tony nomination for Indiscretions. Among his other Broadway credits are Uncle Vanya and The Rehearsal.

Rees may be best known from his portrayal of Robin Colcord on NBC’s Cheers, where he worked with his upcoming Addams Family co-star, Bebe Neuwirth. The two subsequently collaborated on the Kurt Weill revue Here Lies Jenny and they also appeared opposite one another as Kate and Petruchio in The Taming of the Shrew at the Williamstown Theater Festival.

Based on the iconic characters created by legendary cartoonist Charles Addams, The Addams Family features a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa. The production is directed and designed (sets and costumes) by Phelim McDermott and Julian Crouch, with creative consultation by Jerry Zaks and choreography by Sergio Trujillo.
