The Music Man to Be Released on Blu-Ray February 2

Morton DaCosta’s film version of Meredith Willson’s The Music Man will be released on Blu-ray from Warner Home Video on February 2.

The film stars Robert Preston, who won a Tony Award for his performance in the musical on Broadway, and Shirley Jones. The movie was nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Ray Heindorf won an Oscar for his orchestration of Willson’s score.

On Broadway, The Music Man ran for 1,375 performances and starred Preston alongside Barbara Cook. The show was revived in 2000 and featured Craig Bierko and Rebecca Luker. The musical was also filmed for television in 2003 with a cast that included Matthew Broderick, Kristin Chenoweth and Victor Garber.
