Jesse L. Martin Joins NBC’s Smash in Recurring Role

Stage and screen veteran Jesse L. Martin will join the second season of NBC’s drama Smash in a recurring role, according to Deadline.
The actor will play Scott Welker, a theater company’s artistic director who has a history with certain characters, and may get involved with Debra Messing‘s Julia.
Martin’s credits include TV’s Law and Order, the stage and film versions of Rent, The Winter’s Tale, and The Merchant of Venice, among others.
