Grammy Awards Announce Major Changes For 2012

By New York City
The Grammy Awards have announced a number of changes for the 54th Annual Grammy Awards, including changing the total number of categories to be recognized in 2012 to 78. Last year, awards were presented in 109 categories.

Among the categories being eliminated are Best Children's Spoken Word Album, Best Pop Instrumental Album, and Best Classical Vocal Album. Such recordings will still be eligible, but will now be placed in other categories.

Among the other changes, the award for Best Musical Show Album is now being called Best Musical Theater Album.
