The American Theatre Wing honored Dan Collins and Julianne Wick Davis with the 2012 Jonathan Larson Grant on Tuesday, March 27 at the Jerome Greene Space.
Collins and Davis are the writing team behind the musical Southern Comfort, which was produced this past fall by CAP21 Theatre Company.
The event featured performances by Southern Comfort cast members Annette O’Toole, Jeff McCarthy, Elizabeth Hagstedt, Natalie Joy Johnson, Robin Skye and Joel Waggoner; Rent cast members Emma Hunton and Corbin Reid, as well as Brandon Anderson, Amy Burgess, Randy Redd, and Jeffrey D. Smith. American Theatre Wing Chairman Theodore S. Chapin and Executive Director Heather Hitchens were on hand to take part in the ceremony.
Guests also included O’Toole’s husband, actor Michael McKean.
The Jonathan Larson Grants are awarded annually to emerging composers, lyricists and book writers to recognize their work with no strings attached, except to help further their creative endeavors.
