The J.A.P. Show, Jewish American Princesses of Comedy, starring Cory Kahaney, Jackie Hoffman, Cathy Ladman and Jessica Kirson, will begin preview performances at the Actors Temple Theatre on April 4 and will open officially on April 18.

In the show, these four brassy and ballsy female comics give nachus to their female predecessors, demonstrating through their own zany stories and stand-up why the Jewish female comics of yore are treasured pioneers. Written by Kahaney and directed by Dan Fields, The J.A.P. Show includes vintage film and video clips of the original queens of comedy.

Kahaney was voted Best Comedian in New York City by Backstage; she has been seen nationally as one of the stars of NBC’s Last Comic Standing and in her own comedy specials on HBO and Comedy Central. Ladman, who won the American Comedy Award for Best Female Stand up Comic, has starred in her own One Night Stand special on HBO and was the only female comic to appear on the last two Johnny Carson Tonight Show anniversary telecasts.

Hoffman has performed on television, in film, and on Broadway in Hairspray; she recently appeared Off-Broadway in Regrets Only and may currently be seen in an extended engagement of her show Jackie With a Z at Joe’s Pub. Kirson has been seen on The Tonight Show and numerous other comedy shows, including She’s So Funny on the Women’s Television Network and several VH1 specials.

The production team for The J.A.P. Show includes Jeff Croiter (lighting design), Jo Winiarski (scenic design), and Aaron Rhyne (projection design). The show will play an alternating schedule with The Big Voice: God or Merman?, which continues its run at the Actors Temple Theatre.
