Caridad Svich’s The Way of the Water to Receive April Readings in U.S. and Abroad

The two-year anniversary of the Deepwater Horizon BP oil spill will be marked this year by readings of Caridad Svich’s play, The Way of the Water, both in the U.S. and abroad.

The play directly addresses the aftermath of the oil spill and its effects on human health and the environment in the US Gulf region. NoPassport theatre alliance & press is making the play available for local presentations during the month of April.

Among the participating U.S. venues are American Stage Theatre Company in St. Petersburg, FL; Austin Scriptworks in Austin, TX; California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, CA; Cornell University’s Teatrotaller and Theatre Incognita in Ithaca, NY; EAST LA REP in Los Angeles, CA; Emerson College & Atomic Age Theater Company in Boston, MA; Frank Theatre in Minneapolis, MN; ion theatre company in San Diego, CA; Main Street Theatre in Houston, TX; Teatro Paraguas in Santa Fe, NM; Vortex Theatre in Albuquerque, NM; and over 20 universities including Carnegie Mellon and UC-Davis.

International participants will include Aberystwyth University in Wales/UK; Leeds University Workshop Theatre and Rose Bruford College in England/UK; and Pat the Dog in Ontario, Canada. Additional presenting venues will be announced in the near future.
