Brad Oscar to Join Broadway’s Nice Work If You Can Get It Beginning January 8

The Tony Award nominee will temporarily replace 2012 Tony winner Michael McGrath.

Tony Award nominee Brad Oscar (The Producers) will feel the fascinating rhythm of George and Ira Gershwin when he joins the Broadway cast of Nice Work If You Can Get It beginning tonight, Tuesday, January 8. The actor will take on the role of lovable bootlegger Cookie McGee, temporarily replacing 2012 Tony Award winner Michael McGrath, who is taking a two-month leave of absence.

On stage at the Imperial Theatre, Oscar, whose many Broadway credits include The Addams Family and Spamalot, will not only get to spike the drink of 2012 Tony winner Judy Kaye’s staunch prohibitionist Duchess Estonia Dulworth, but will reunite with his former Producers cast mate, two-time Tony winner Matthew Broderick. The principal cast also includes Tony nominees Kelli O’Hara (South Pacific) and Jennifer Laura Thompson (Urinetown), Chris Sullivan (Lombardi), Robyn Hurder (Grease), Stanley Wayne Mathis (Kiss Me, Kate), Terry Beaver (Born Yesterday), and Tony and Emmy winner Blythe Danner (Butterflies are Free).

Oscar has also been seen on stage in Jekyll & Hyde, Aspects of Love, Young Frankenstein, Forbidden Broadway, Fiddler on the Roof, Barnum, Cabaret, and Damn Yankees, as well as the television shows The Good Wife, Smash, and Law & Order.

With music and lyrics by the Gershwin brothers, Nice Work If You Can Get It has a book by Tony winner Joe DiPietro (Memphis), and direction and choreography by Tony winner Kathleen Marshall (Anything Goes). The score includes classics of the American songbook including “Someone to Watch Over Me,” “Fascinating Rhythm,” “S’Wonderful,” “Let’s Call The Whole Thing Off,” and many others.
