Brad Garrett, who left the cast of the Broadway revival of Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple earlier this month, is returning to the show from January 20-22 to take over the role of Oscar Madison from Nathan Lane, who is suffering from laryngitis.

Lane’s illness caused the show’s producers to cancel both performances on January 17, as well as tonight’s performance. Garrett previously played Murray the Cop but was also listed as Lane’s understudy. Lane is expected to return to the role on Tuesday, January 24.

The Odd Couple also stars Matthew Broderick as Felix Ungar, along with Mike Starr, Lee Wilkof, Rob Bartlett, Peter Frechette, Olivia D’Abo, and Jessica Stone. Ticketholders for the canceled shows may exchange their tickets for a future performance or receive a refund at the box office or at point of purchase.

In related news, it was announced yesterday that the production’s limited run has been extended through June 4, 2006, with Lane and Broderick and the rest of the cast set to remain in the show through that date.
