REDCAT Announces 2012 Winter/Spring Season

REDCAT has announced the productions for its 2012 winter/spring season, which features a lineup including dance, theater, music, film, visual, and multimedia work.

Rinde Eckert’s Obie Award-winning And God Created Great Whales (January 25-29) will open REDCAT’s season of theater and dance. Fresh from performances at the Sundance Film Festival, is Abacus (February 2-5). Then, Argentine writer-director Mariano Pensotti tracks a quartet of characters through a decade in The Past is a Grotesque Animal (February 23-26).

The University of Guadalajara and CalArts Center for New Performance will team up to present Timboctou (March 3-11). Los Angeles choreographer Oguri collaborates with Dublin-based choreographers Morleigh Steinberg and Liz Roche in Cold Dream Colour (May 16-20). Other featured dance and theater productions include Gloria’s Cause (April 5-8), Post-Living Ante-Action Theater (April 14-15), Song’s at the End of the World (April 28-29), and the world premiere of A Missionary Position (June 28-July 1).

Musical highlights include John Cage Centenary Festival (February 15-16), and the return of Mx Justin Vivian Bond (February 17-19). And rounding out the season is the Jack H. Skirball Series featuring the film and video work of visionaries including Lee Anne Schmitt (February 13), Abigail Child (April 2), and Sharon Lockhart (April 9) among others and Conversation events (February 8 and 12).
