Stage and screen star Morgan Freeman will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award for Lifetime Achievement, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It will be given to him at the 69th annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, January 15.
Freeman received a Tony Award nomination in 1978 for The Mighty Gents; his other Broadway credits include The Country Girl, Purlie, and The Gospel at Colonus.
He won an Academy Award for his work in Clint Eastwood’s Million Dollar Baby and has been nominated four other times, most recently for his portrayal of South African president Nelson Mandela in Invictus. Among his other film credits are Driving Miss Daisy, Glory, Unforgiven, The Shawshank Redemption, Se7en, Amistad, Batman Begins The Dark Knight, and Red.
