George Clooney, Glenn Close to Be Honored at Palm Springs International Film Festival

Oscar winner George Clooney and three-time Tony Award winner and five-time Oscar nominee Glenn Close will be honored on January 7 at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, according to .


Clooney will receive the Chairman’s Award for his work this year as star and director of The Ides of March, adapted from Beau Willimon’s Farragut North, and as star of Alexander Payne’s The Descendants.


Close will be honored with the Palm Springs International Film Festival’s Career Achievement Award. Her newest movie, Albert Nobbs, will be released on December 21. She has received Academy Award nominations for her performances in Dangerous Liaisons, Fatal Attraction, The Natural, The Big Chill, and The World According to Garp. She won Tony Awards for her roles in The Real Thing, Death and the Maiden, and Sunset Boulevard, and also received a Tony nomination for Barnum.
