Kerry Washington to Join Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained

Stage and screen star Kerry Washington has joined the cast of the film Django Unchained, according to published reports. Quentin Tarantino is writing and directing the project.

The movie will focus on Django, a freed slave, who teams with a German bounty hunter to take on an evil plantation owner. The movie will also star Samuel L. Jackson and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Washington starred on Broadway in David Mamet’s Race. Among her film credits are Tyler Perry’s For Colored Girls, based on Ntozake Shange’s award-winning 1975 play For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf, We the Peoples, A Thousand Words, Night Catches Us, and Mother and Child.
