Viola Davis and The Help Cast to Receive Hollywood Ensemble Acting Award

The principal cast of the film The Help will receive this year’s Hollywood Ensemble Acting Award at the 15th annual Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Film Awards, to take place on October 24 in Beverly Hills, according to The Hollwyood Reporter.


The film, co-written and directed by Tate Taylor, is adapted from Kathryn Stockett’s novel of the same name, about a young Southern woman who writes a book in 1963 based on the experiences of the African-American maids her in town.


The cast includes Tony Award winner Viola Davis, Drama Desk Award winner Allison Janney, Octavia Spencer, Jessica Chastain, Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Lowell, Ahna O’Reilly, Emma Stone, Sissy Spacek, Mary Steenburgen, Cicely Tyson, and Mike Vogel.

The film, which was released on August 10, has already earned over $150 million in worldwide revenue and is considered a strong Oscar contender in many categories.
