Didi Conn, who indelibly played Frenchy in the 1978 film Grease, will make a cameo appearance in Fox's upcoming Grease: Live broadcast on January 31. The news was announced during the network's session at the 2016 Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour.

Conn played Frenchy in both Grease and its sequel, Grease 2. In the new version, the role is assumed by singer Carly Rae Jepsen. Conn will take on the role of a waitress who befriends Frenchy, according to published reports.

Thomas Kail (Hamilton) directs Grease: Live, which stars Aaron Tveit as Danny Zuko, and Julianne Hough as Sandy, with Vanessa Hudgens as Betty Rizzo, Carlos Pena Vega as Kenickie, Keke Palmer as Marty, Carly Rae Jepsen as Frenchy, Kether Donohue as Jan, David Del Rio as Putzie, Mario Lopez as Vince Fontaine, and Ana Gasteyer as Principal McGee.

Adapted by playwrights Robert Cary and Jonathan Tolins, the broadcast version of Grease is based on the original stage musical by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey and its 1978 screen adaptation. In addition to Kail, the creative team includes music supervisor Tom Kitt, scenic designer David Korins, costume designer William Ivey Long, and choreographer Zach Woodlee.
