The company of the West End production of Hair will perform a 30-minute excerpt from the Tony Award-winning revival on July 18 at the Latitude Festival, according to a report on the website for the U.K. magazine, The Stage. The Festival, held on the Suffolk coast, offers a variety of music, comedy, theater, dance and opera performances each year and will run July 15-18.

The appearance of the Hair cast will mark the first time a West End musical has been invited to the Festival. In previous years, Latitude has presented offerings from the Royal Shakespeare Company, Royal Opera House, Bush Theatre, Lyric Hammersmith, English Touring Theatre and Soho Theatre. These groups are all expected to return during 2010 alongside first-time presentations from the Opera Group, the Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse, and Northern Stage.

Another first time participant in the Latitude Festival will be Les Enfants Terribles, which is writing a brand-new musical entitled Vaudevillians for the event. Additional productions and participants will be announced at a later date.

As previously announced, the London company of Hair features the majority of the recent Broadway cast — including stars Gavin Creel, Will Swenson, and Caissie Levy — although specific performers for the Latitude Festival have not yet been announced.
