Norm Lewis will receive an Onyx Award in a gala celebration to be held on September 24 at the Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando, Florida. The prizes recognize outstanding achievements of African-Americans and those of the African Diaspora.
Lewis will soon be starring opposite Audra McDonald in The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess at American Repertory Theatre. The production will then transfer to Broadway’s Richard Rodgers Theatre, beginning performances on December 17.
The actor’s other credits include Les Miserables in London’s West End and on Broadway, as well as Sondheim on Sondheim, Chicago, The Little Mermaid, Side Show, Miss Saigon, The Wild Party, Amour, and Tommy.
Onyx Awards will also be presented to Margaret Miller, Frederica S. Wilson, Dr. Frederick Humphries, The Florida Highwaymen, and Willie Williams.
