(© Joseph Marzullo/WENN) | Nominations for the 35th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards were announced today on ABC's The View. The awards will be presented on Friday, June 20 at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles and broadcast live on ABC.
Theater veterans who were recognized for their work on daytime dramas include current August: Osage County star Brian Kerwin for his work as Charlie Banks on One Life to Live, along with David Canary (All My Children), Van Hansis (As the World Turns), Tom Pelphrey (Guiding Light), and Heather Tom (The Bold and the Beautiful).
Overall, The Young and the Restless received 17 nominations, followed by 13 for Guiding Light and One Life to Live, all of which are competing with General Hospital (which got six nominations) for Outstanding Drama Series.
MTV's airing of Legally Blonde: The Musical received nominations for Outstanding Special Class Special, as well as a directing nomination in that category.
Tony Award nominee John Tartaglia was nominated for Outstanding Performer in a Children's Series for Johnny and the Sprites; the show received a total of four nominations.
Eartha Kitt received a nomination for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program for Yzma as did Christopher Lloyd -- soon to appear in the New York Philharmonic's staging of Camelot -- for PBS' Cyberchase.
