A host of stage and screen favorites will populate the elderly dance team at the heart of the new Broadway musical Gotta Dance, which will premiere December 13 at Chicago’s Bank of America Theatre. The production, which runs through January 17, is expected to open in New York in the spring of 2016.

Inspired by the 2008 documentary of the same title, Gotta Dance will feature a principal company made up of Tony nominee André De Shields (The Full Monty), Tony winner Lillias White (The Life), five-time Emmy nominee Georgia Engel (John), Stefanie Powers (Hart to Hart), Haven Burton (Kinky Boots), Lori Tan Chinn (Orange is the New Black), and Nancy Ticotin.

Gotta Dance is directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots), and includes a book by Tony Award nominee Chad Beguelin (Aladdin) and Tony Award winner Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone), original music by Tony Award nominee Matthew Sklar (Elf) and the late Marvin Hamlisch, and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde).

Gotta Dance tells the remarkable true story of a group of expert dancers tasked with getting professional basketball’s first-ever senior-citizen dance team performance-ready. The creative team includes David Rockwell (scenic design), Gregg Barnes (costume design), Kenneth Posner (lighting design), Nick Kenkel (Co-Choreography), Peter Hylenski (sound design), Larry Hochman (orchestrations), and Charlie Alterman (musical direction).
