Full Cast Announced for Broadway-Bound Musical Gotta Dance

Stefanie Powers, Georgia Engel, and Tony winner Lillias White lead the cast.

Full casting has been announced for the pre-Broadway world premiere of Gotta Dance, which will play at Broadway in Chicago’s Bank of America Theatre. The musical, which tells the story of professional basketball’s first ever 60-and-older dance team, begins performances on December 13 and runs through January 10.

Joining the Gotta Dance team are Joanna Jones (NBC’s Sing Off), Madeleine Doherty (Gigi), Tracy Jai Edwards (Legally Blonde), Diane Findlay (Fish in the Dark), Lenora Nemetz (Gypsy), Jonalyn Saxer (Honeymoon in Vegas), and Kay Walbye (Urinetown), along with Alexander Aguilar, Adinah Alexander, Sydni Beaudoin, Holly Ann Butler, Paula Caselton, Ari Groover, Colby Lewis, Lance Roberts, Elise Santora, Austin Scott III, and Virginia Ann Woodruff. They join previously announced stars including Tony Award nominee André De Shields, five-time Emmy Award nominee Georgia Engel, Tony Award winner Lillias White, Stefanie Powers, Haven Burton, Lori Tan Chinn, and Nancy Ticotin.

Gotta Dance tells the remarkable true story of a group of expert dancers tasked with getting professional basketball's first-ever senior-citizen dance team performance-ready.

Gotta Dance is directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots), and includes a book by Tony Award nominee Chad Beguelin (Aladdin) and Tony Award winner Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone), original music by Tony Award nominee Matthew Sklar (Elf) and the late Marvin Hamlisch, and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde).

The creative team includes David Rockwell (scenic design), Gregg Barnes (costume design), Kenneth Posner (lighting design), Nick Kenkel (co-choreography), Peter Hylenski (sound design), Larry Hochman (orchestrations), and Charlie Alterman (musical direction).
