Meet the Cast of Travesties on Broadway

Performances are set to begin March 29 at the American Airlines Theatre.

The company of Roundabout Theatre Company's upcoming production of Tom Stoppard's Travesties met the press Tuesday, March 6.

Directed by Patrick Marber, Travesties tells the story of Henry Carr (Hollander), an elderly man who begins to recall his adventures in Zürich during World War I, during which time he interacted with James Joyce as he was writing Ulysses, Dadaist Tristan Tzara, and Lenin on the eve of the Russian Revolution. The play was first produced on Broadway in 1975, earning the Tony Award for Best Play.

The cast features Tom Hollander as Henry Carr, Peter McDonald as James Joyce, Seth Numrich as Tristan Tzara, Scarlett Strallen as Gwendolen, Sara Topham as Cecily, Opal Alladin as Nadya, Dan Butler as Lenin, and Patrick Kerr as Bennett.

The Menier Chocolate Factory revival broke box office records during its 2016 engagement, and later transferred to London's West End. Marber's revival received five Olivier Award nominations including Best Actor and Best Revival.

Travesties will begin preview performances on March 29 in advance of an April 24 press opening. The limited engagement will run through June 17 at the American Airlines Theatre.

The creative team includes Tim Hatley (set and costume design), Neil Austin (lighting design), Adam Cork (sound design and original music), and Polly Bennett (movement).
