Ben Platt and Alana Arenas Win 2016 Clarence Derwent Awards

Actors’ Equity Association has announced its annual honorees.

Dear Evan Hansen star Ben Platt and Alana Arenas of Head of Passes will receive the 2016 Clarence Derwent Award from Actors' Equity Association.

Platt also received 2016 Drama League and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations for his performance in the musical, which is currently running at Second Stage Theatre. Arenas won a 2016 Lucille Lortel Award for her work in the Tarell Alvin McCraney drama, which ran this winter at the Public Theater.

Actors' Equity Association will also honor theater veterans Lois Smith and Bill Camp with this year's Richard Seff Award. Smith appeared off-Broadway earlier this season in Marjorie Prime and John. Camp is currently a Tony and Drama Desk Award nominee for his performance as Reverend Hale in Arthur Miller’s The Crucible..

The awards will be presented on May 31 at the organizations Eastern Regional Board meeting.
