On the Second Day of Christmas, My True Love Gave to Me: 2— Two Plays in Rep

Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, and Mark Rylance are among the British actors taking on multiple roles on Broadway this holiday season.

Our Decembers are brightened by the fact that some of the greatest actors in the entire United Kingdom (and surrounding islands) have chosen to spend their holiday seasons performing theater in New York. Not only that, somehow they’ve all decided (on their own) that the only way to do this was to star in not one play, but two. So Sirs Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart are appearing in both Harold Pinter’s No Man's Land and Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot, while Mark Rylance, Stephen Fry, Samuel Barnett, and a host of others are appearing in Twelfth Night and Richard III.

Here’s a look at the two sets of two plays in rep.
