Stockard Channing, who co-stars in the Broadway production of Other Desert Cities, has returned to the show following knee surgery.

Her understudy, Lauren Klein, performed the role of Polly Wyeth during Channing’s absence and will appear at the November 30 matinee.

The production is directed by Joe Mantello and the company also features Rachel Griffiths, Stacy Keach, Judith Light, and Thomas Sadoski.

In the play, Brooke Wyeth, a once promising novelist, returns home after a six-year absence to celebrate Christmas in Palm Springs with her parents, former members of the Reagan inner-circle, her brother, and her aunt. When Brooke announces that she is about to publish a memoir focusing on an explosive chapter in the family’s history, the holiday reunion is thrown into turmoil and the Wyeths are both bound together and torn apart as they struggle to come to terms with their past.
