Tony Yazbeck will return to the role of Billy Flynn in the Broadway production of Chicago, beginning with the Monday, March 5 performance at the Ambassador Theatre. He replaces Marco Zunino, who concludes his run on Sunday, March 4.

Yazbeck’s Broadway credits also include Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, Gypsy, A Chorus Line, Never Gonna Dance, and Oklahoma!

The current cast of Chicago also features Bianca Marroquin as Roxie Hart, Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly, Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart and Carol Woods as Matron “Mama” Morton. As previously reported, Christie Brinkley will reprise her Broadway role as Roxie Hart in a three-week limited return engagement beginning Friday, April 6, before headlining the musical’s national tour.

Set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, Chicago is the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago’s slickest criminal lawyer to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today’s tabloids.

The production has been directed by Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Ann Reinking. The creative team includes John Lee Beatty (scenic design), William Ivey Long (costume design), Ken Billington (lighting design), and Scott Lehrer (sound design).
