Broadway’s Hair to Hold Non-Equity Casting Call January 21

The Broadway production of Hair, currently performing at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, will hold a non-Equity open casting call at The Public Theater (425 Lafayette Street), on Thursday, January 21 from 10am to 6pm.

The call is open to anyone, with all those auditioning asked to prepare 16 bars of an up-tempo pop or rock song with sheet music, and bring a headshot and a resume. In conjunction with the auditions, the producers of Hair have organized a food drive for City Harvest, and asks for donations of canned goods, which will be accepted at the audition.

As previously announced, the new cast of Hair will debut on Broadway on Tuesday, March 9, as the upcoming London production will feature the original Broadway cast. Hair has a book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado and music by Galt MacDermot. The Broadway production won the 2009 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical, and is directed by Diane Paulus and choreographed by Karole Armitage.
